In many applications, there can be need to determine the Reverberation Time for a space or room. This can be an essential part of the design and installation of performance spaces, teaching rooms or other spaces where the reverberation time impacts upon those using it.
The Reverberation Time (RT) Module is an add-on for the NoiseTools software that allows the calculation of RT60, RT30 and RT20 values from either interrupted or impulse noise source data in accordance with EN ISO 3382-2:2008.
Using measurement data that has been downloaded from a suitable Optimus Sound Level Meter, the module determines if the data is of sufficient quality and where the data is deemed to be suitable, calculates the required values in accordance with EN ISO 3382-2:2008.
The calculations can be carried out using either a single measurement or from a group of measurements, allowing multiple samples to be combined, reducing the measurement uncertainty.
Where multiple measurements are used, the module will automatically calculate the average values across all suitable data.
The calculated values are displayed both in graphical and numerical form and a report can be produced which details all of the calculated parameters.
The graphical and numerical data can be exported for use in other programs or applications as required.
Data is gathered using an Optimus Sound Level Meter that provides 1:1 or 1:3 octave band data with one or more measurements stored in the instrument.
The module can process data that has been gathered using either an interrupted noise source, such as a loudspeaker, or an impulsive noise source, such as a balloon or pistol.
The module uses any suitable measurement from an Optimus where the time history sample rate is set to 62.5ms for 1:1 and 1:3 octave band data.
10ms sample data for LAeq, LCeq and LZeq is also supported where 1:1 or 1:3 octave band data is also available.
The module will determine if the data is of sufficient quality to accurately calculate the RT20 and RT30 values according to EN ISO 3382-2:2008.
To calculate the reliability of the data source, the module uses BT>4 for impulse noise sources and BT>16 for interrupted noise sources as defined in EN ISO 3382-2:2008.
The uncertainty of the measurement calculations is also calculated automatically and provided in the table and measurement report.
The Reverberation Time Modules presents the calculated values as a detailed table which shows, for each band:
All of the inforamtion presented in this table can be exported directly as a CSV or XML file for use in other programs or for further analysis.
A pre-formatted report is also available which shows all of the calculated values in both tabular and graphical formats.
The NoiseTools Reverberation Time Module can be ordered using the product code SWNR-RT.
As with all Cirrus sound level meter and doseBadge software, the standard version of the NoiseTools software is supplied free from any licensing restrictions and can be installed on as many PC's as is needed without the need to purchases any additional licenses, seats or keys.
Updates can be downloaded free of charge from the Cirrus website. Where access rights permit, NoiseTools can automatically download and installed updates when they become available.
Detailed installation information and guidance is available to help in the installation process. If NoiseTools is to be used in a networked environment or where data is to be shared between multiple users, NoiseTools can be setup to support these requirements.
Additional modules, such as the Reverberation Time Module, can be added to the standard program. Please note that there may be a charge for this additional modules. Please contact Cirrus Research plc or your local Cirrus Sales Partner for more information.
